Finally, the Frank Fat's Experience!

OK I know this is an Old School restaurant of the greatest degree for sooo many people, but I've never gotten a chance to try it, and have been craving really good Peking Duck for over 3 months! and with no good recommendations! So in an extra special treat, post a very invigorating education rally at the capital, we had a ladies lunch at Frank Fat's!!
and to think I was going to get a sandwich!

This was the ultimate yummy Chinese experience for me, the above picture is Honey Walnut Prawns, in the chef’s special sauce with glazed walnuts. This dish was sweet but savory and is perfect with steamed rice, if you've never tried - you are SO missing out!
The picture below was the Pièce de résistance: Peking Duck (half portion), served with steamed buns and plum sauce. Indefinable yummieness - crispy, tender beautiful dark meat in soft steamed buns topped with plum sauce and finished with green onion! Dark, velvety luscious flavor, and EXACTLY what I had been looking for, for months! Perfection fulfilled!

In addition to the wonderful above stated items we also got Imperial Chow Mein,
with BBQ pork, beef, chicken, shrimp and scallop, served over thin pan-fried noodles (shown below) - which was very good, lots of fresh veggies! Additionally we tried Szechuan Eggplant, with shredded pork in Szechuan sauce (not shown cause the photographer was so hungry she almost ate her hand) - which was really good, it tasted like pork belly and crispy breaded eggplant in saucy goodness!

...and to finish off this exceptional meal we had the Famous Frank Fat's Banana Creme pie, banana creme pie you say? at a fancy Chinese restaurant? Yes! It was intensely good, you can tell as I forgot to take a picture until we had eaten half! All handmade, the crust is flaky thin, crispy and then topped with cut bananas and banana creme and perfectly portioned whipped creme. This is a MUST try, even if it's the ONLY thing you get!

So at the end of this exciting civicly oriented afternoon, I was in a caloric coma from goodness that no amount of diet coke could help, I know I tried! So although there is no doubt many who have already been there, or will say there is better Chinese out there; Frank Fat's is a Sacramento institution - Known as Sacramento's oldest establishment, the Fat family has created a culinary empire since 1939, and its worth a try!
