This musical was hilarious, and by far the best musical I've ever seen! Full stop, best musical. From the political connotations to the audacity the characters display in there performances when interacting with one another. The acting was spot on, the accents were perfect, I can't even really imagine David Hyde Pierce (playing Lancelot) or Tim Curry (King Arthur) representing Monty Python being any better! Particular favorites were the scenes with the French guards, and the Scottish wizard.
My companion Rachel claimed, " 'If only I could see it again and again and again!' If I had to pick just one scene that was my favorite I would have to hit my head against the wall because it would be impossible. The British accents were only triumphed by the snooty snotty french accents. Fighting with baguettes never gets old. Compared to the large scale production I saw exactly one year prior at the Guild Theatre in San Francisco, I'd say I enjoyed my Music Circus experience better, not just because my nose wasn't bleeding and I could actually see the actors facial expressions but because it wasn't watered down with stage fluff (props) and the actors took over-acting to a new high (or low) that sent me laughing over the edge. I give Spamalot 5 stars!"
My particular favorite numbers for outstanding ability were; "I'm Not Dead Yet," and "You Won't Succeed On Broadway (without any Jews)" - sublime. With the addition of a handsome, turned-flaming Lancelot this performance was full of good casting, singing and humor!
Not to be missed
