Four Roses Bourbon Lays Out the Red Carpet

In an invitation-only bourbon tasting event hosted by Four Roses Bourbon I was able to speak to the legendary Bourbon Master Distiller Jim Rutledge, with over 44 years in the business, jet-setting all over the world speaking the gospel of Four Roses, as well as being chairman of the Kentucky Bourbon Festival in Bardstown, Kentucky in his spare time. He's a busy man by any measure, and to be able to break bread with him at Ella's Dining Room, was a rare treat.

From finding out that the reserve collection of Four Roses Meritage (the name taken from the wine blend) to mean a marriage of two blends (recipes) is being changed and revamped to a new product to be released soon. The evening was a showplace of great food, "All things go well with Bourbon" Jim went on to say, but we found out later few things as well as BBQ - which Jim says he always marinates in Bourbon, to the Dark Chocolate Ice cream we had (went especially well with Four Roses). From oysters on the half shell, to Yellowfin tuna Carpaccio, halibut, chicken, and a favorite of the table the watermelon, chili lime and shrimp salad; the table was abundant.

Four Roses Bourbon played out beautifully with the Manhattans, Old Fashioned, On the rocks, and accompanied the food beautifully - it's wonderful to see a new take on food pairings that don't have to be wine. So here's to a great evening from Four Roses, and looking forward to see Four Roses, and all their Bourbon friends at the upcoming WhiskyFest!
