Music Circus Lights Up Sacramento with The Producers

Are you looking to see something hilariously raunchy and almost uncomfortably ridiculous in it's spectacle? Look nor further than the opening show at this seasons Music Circus. The Producers, made world-famous by Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick's adaptation on stage and screen with Uma Thurman is a true diversion from the daily grind. From the hugely expressive actors to the wild costumes depicting "Springtime for Hitler" there isn't better satire or slapstick comedy to be found.

The season opens July 12 with a limited one-week production of MEL BROOKS’ “THE PRODUCERS.”  Winner of a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards, the outrageous musical follows the adventures of a down-on-his-luck producer and his beleaguered accountant as they attempt to bilk investors by staging the worst Broadway show ever, only to find themselves with a hit on their hands.

Based on the Mel Brooks 1968 feature film by the same name, "The Producers" is set in new York with the latest Broadway musical by Max Bialystock closing as a box office failure. After finding an accounting error in the musical flop that benefits Max, he and his accountant Leo Bloom hatch a plan to get rich quick by producing the woest Broadway show ever. They set off to find the worst musical ever written, hire the worst director and actors, open the destined-to-flop musical, and then run off with the investors' money.

Running from: July 12-17, 2011
