So after taking in the Symphony (loved the Mozart and Stravinsky, but modern classical makes me nauseous) we went looking for some late night hoity toitie food, and what better place than Jardiniere.
This place was so many things, romantic, swank, expensive, and somehow approachable all at the same time. Sitting at the bar, the wait for a table was probably 2 months back, we were able to take in a little bit of this starry fantasy-style restaurant.
Great foodie tip I learned from my foodie brethren (Art, Karen): Whenever you wanna check out a really expensive restaurant, but don't know if it's actually worth forking out the cash - check out either the bar menu or the lunch menu. This gives you an exposure to the style of food they do without the price if it's not to your liking. Plus it's a great way to enjoy the finer things in life, if your cheap or poor! Oh wait that's everyone now..hahah, and back to the regularly scheduled program.
The drinks, the food and the ambiance were all exceptional - expensive Operatic-style class. But the best, most gleeful part was this desert. This sweet treat was absolutely worth the price, 13 different little treats, from house made caramel, canales, lemon & chocolate tarts, macaroons, chocolates and the fantastic dolce de leche creme brulee!
Bonne Bouche Platter 13.
Crème Brûlée, Opera Cake,
Petite Tarts, Cookies, Fruit Jellies,
Chocolate Truffles and Candies
Other eats that were quite good, but not all the sweet sugar plum fairy excitement of the previous item were there
Duck Liver Mousse, Housemade Pickles and Garlic Croutons 14.
- soft creamy, and perfect on toast points, finished with gherkins! Love
and
Warm Bread Salad, Heirloom Tomatoes and Crescenza Cheese 15.
- grilled artichokes, warm cheese, and tart dressing
