Sushi Unlimited Folsom

Sushi Unlimited recently opened its new Folsom location. The location boasts a three tiered layout with ample space for couples, families and parties. The décor appears consistent with the other Sushi Unlimited locations—sophisticated, chic and comfortable. On the night that we dined with Sushi Unlimited, the restaurant was sparsely filled. This was understandable considering the sheer size of the, dare I say, compound. The restaurant hardly felt empty and our table enjoyed the semblance of privacy that the layout afforded us.
As the restaurant’s name suggests the menu approximates an ‘unlimited’ amount of delectable options. Sushi Unlimited receives its fish fresh daily from a distributor based in San Francisco. Consequently, if the fish isn’t available on the day it’s needed, it won’t be served. In the interest of quality, delicacies such as Sea Urchin and other rarer fish finds are served only on the weekends.
Sushi Unlimited offers a wonderful supply of Sho Chiko Ban Sake. The list spans the usual suspects of Sho Chiko Ban’s supply, unfiltered, filtered and the tasty spectrum in-between. Our server guided us through the Sake menu and more than excitedly offered pairing options for our food selection. We began the evening with our server’s recommendations of the Pepper Fin and Croquette. The Pepper Fin features Yellow Fin Tuna in sesame oil with jalapeno. Surprisingly, the jalapeno offered only light flavor competition against the taste and delicate texture of the Yellow Fin. The Croquette, a traditional composition of potato and vegetables, is a wonderful idea for youngsters, vegetarians and diners wary of raw fish. The entrée portion of the meal consisted of a sampling of Sushi Unlimited’s most popular rolls. The extensive menu contains rolls in every possible combination of fish and shellfish! Our favorites included the Rainbow Roll, Raiders Roll and the Cherry Blossom. Imagine the tastiest combination of sushi grade fish and shellfish and you’re bound to discover its description paired with a witty name on the Sushi Unlimited menu.
We finished the night with my personal favorite, Red Bean, Vanilla and Mango Mochi Ice Cream. Mochi is the rice dough that surrounds the ball of Ice Cream. Mochi has a nearly gel-like consistency and the rice flavor is incredibly light. It’s a great option for families with children because the ice cream balls are served cut into four pieces ensuring that everyone gets a taste!
