Chic Italian Delights Sacramento

The Sofia Restaurant, located in Downtown Sacramento off of H Street and 11th, is in the heart of Downtown Sacramento. Within quick walking distance of downtown hotels and theatres, makes this eatery an ideal destination for out-of-towners and natives alike; as well as a great idea for pre and post theatre dinning, and just a walk from old Sacramento.

The décor has a Miami and Las Vegas feel with lots of attention to detail including crushed velvet booths seating, sheer drapes for privacy and candle light everywhere! Giving you the feel of a urban lounge with dark lighting and alternative music, also featuring paintings from local artists everywhere! This is a great space whether you are entertaining a large group in a private room or a casual night out with friends. There is also Friday night Salsa in there upstairs bar and banquet room. With the ability to handle 80-100 covers a night they have the size and staff to handle large crowds, and do! With the kind of food that keeps the patrons coming.

We started our evening’s meal out with the pear, walnut and bleu cheese salad featured on a bed of baby leaf spinach with sugared walnuts and mustard vinaigrette, which we had served on the side. The slightly citrus flavor pared with the stronger vinegar content made this salad, which is becoming a standard, stand out. Next we had grilled polenta medallions with breuchetta and balsamic Vinaigrette topping. This was a new take on an old standard, and for polenta lovers a savory new treat. To finish of the appetizer portion we had parmesan prawns, which were oven baked prawns incrusted with a seasoned parmesan coating over a scrumptious garlic sauce.
Our pasta dish was the house-made gnocchi with marinara bolognese (meat) sauce, where the potato pasta was perfectly cooked. Then to finish off, our entrée’s were the cranberry-citrus glazed salmon, a perfectly cooked rack of lamb, and their special chicken saltimbocca.
The dishes are all served traditionally with mashed potatoes, green vegetables, and Italian bread. The serving staff and owners are extremely warm and hospitable evoking a southern comfort feel into this Italian treat in the downtown’s booming culinary scene!
