I find every time I journey to Adam Pascal's Tuli, I always have a scrumptious meal. On par, or quite near, the genius of Mulvaney's, Tuli always puts forth a well rounded, well executed meal. For a bistro that changes there menu every day, this is the utmost in locally procured and seasonally adjusted meals, reflecting the best of the season. But outside of the blue cheese and bacon gnocchi, Fire-seared Scallops, and Salami/ chorizzo pizza the biggest question on my plate is Where is Adam Pascal? Unknown is the answer to the question of who is planning theses menus, and the exceptional Chef de cuisine is not of the Pascal name. Sacramento is not really known for it's "celebrity chef's" out-side of a bleach blond sighting of Guy Ferreri, but all of a sudden I'm saddened to think that we are becoming a foodie communities of big-headed chefs! Some (no bias of course) deserve the respect of Greek gods, like Patrick Mulvaney, Thomas Keller, and Todd English (cause he's hot) but Adam Pascal? I'm just hoping that Adam will re-join the ranks of the line, embrace the kitchen and dis-continue the celebrity chef circuit. There are sooo many other chefs who also deserve this same critique (Randall Selland anyone?), but it only became so apparent to me as a real disappointment when 3 out of 3 times in a month I went into Tuli at the dinner hour, and our the local celebrity was nowhere to be found!
Bring back the good, and leave off with the pretense!
