Sometimes it Pays to be Nicer to the Delivery Boy!

So most of my adventures are about great foods and wines I discover randomly as I amble through life, but most are mundane occurrences of the everyday person like the following that are totally relatable because they happen to everyone. This particular occurrence is a quick lesson on why I will always be very careful what I say to the delivery boy in the future!

So doing my great deed for the year I having been visiting a sick friend and keeping her from death by boredom while she recuperates in this post-holiday sick season. While watching movies, we then decide to get pizza, making a normal every-day call for pizza should be a 2 min affair. This wasn't. I said I wanted a pizza to-go, and then asked for the specials. This kind kid then lists all the specials this pizza place has ever offered, after making a selection of a simple pepperoni and extra cheese, he then persuades me to place an order for a pizza with 5 kinds of cheese instead of the extra cheese cause that would obviously be better, right? I then ask what are the different cheeses and he then pauses and says "well I know there's mozzarella and ramono and...maybe...hmmm" then I say just give me which ever's cheaper (it is POST holiday season people). After upselling me on 3 sodas I didn't need and delivery instead of pick-up (not a hard sell to my lazy ass), we then do the credit card thing. I joke as I read off the number that he sold me so much there wasn't going to be anything left for a tip, and he jokes saying that now that he has my credit card number he can just add an extra nice one! haha (NOT)!! Now as my mother just went through a nasty incident of identity theft for alot of money it was crazy to occur to me just how much information I was giving over the phone to a high schooler about myself for a pizza! But trying to get over my old-lady angst I complete the info and the kid claims the pizza will be there soon! What is soon to a high schooler anyhow? God this post makes me feel old.

So the kid arrives "soon-ish" and I go to grab the pizza, get to the door and see a red haired skinny pimple faced adorable teenager. Being all delivery-boyish the kid laughs "Ok who's the trouble maker?" I say that I was the one on the phone and laugh that his friend at the pizza shop was horrible! But before I can even get out that I was joking the kid claims "that was me!" I am drop jaw and say oh I mean I'm only kidding, wait!! But he was gone, and with a mediocre tip in the confusion, so here I sit feeling bad, and hoping to not see a charge for 6 Xbox's on my credit card tomorrow! So when in doubt, it literally pays to be nice!
