Los Angeles Food Adventures Part 2: The Marie Anotinette Part

So I had been hearing about this place for over 2 years, and when I went here I had a grip of expectations. But before I even got to my destination I was pulled over for being an idiot driver, and not only turning and almost getting T-Boned (I was honked at flipped off ) and then pulled over. After being pulled over I was so frazzled that I literally asked this hard-nosed George Hamilton looking bike cop to "Please back your little bike up, so I can park my car and give you my paperwork?" I KNOW I KNOW, I have NO idea how I got out of it, I attribute it to my low-cut bathing suit top (we were headed to Venice Beach!) Either way I was able to maneuver my way out of both counts (driving/ cell phone) and needed a tasty treat to calm the nerves STAT!

This perfectly frothy confection of a restaurant was just what the doctor ordered - White marble everywhere, french macaroons, petite fours, overpriced jams and olive oils and wonderful prepared foods everywhere!

Hard to find item, Canele: A canelé is a small French pastry with a soft and tender custard center and a dark, thick caramelized crust. The dessert, which is in the shape of small, striated cylinder approximately two inches in height, is a specialty of the Bordeaux region of France but can often be found in Parisian patisseries as well. Made from egg, sugar, milk and flour flavored with rum and vanilla, the custard batter is baked in a mold, giving the canelé a caramelized crust and custard-like inside. (Wikipedia)
Beautiful French Macaroons in flavors like Chocolate Carmel to Rose, Brioche, and their standard - flaky, buttery croissants!

Although more than slightly overpriced, they do execute french pastries very well, and make this a must try in the downtown LA area!
