It really is "A Grand Night for Singing!!"

January 28-May 8, 2011
Previews January 26-27

Tony-nominated for best musical, this exhilarating revue takes the best known songs of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II and shows how truly timeless and universal their music is.  Whether it’s a sultry Andrews Sisters-esque “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out-a My Hair,” a swingin’ “Honeybun,” or a jazzy “Kansas City,” this California Musical Theatre premiere of the Broadway musical will leave no question about how terrifically up to date Rodgers & Hammerstein are.  Featuring songs from all 11 R&H musicals from “Oklahoma!” to “The Sound of Music” to “Cinderella!”

My favorite part were the songs from "Flower Drum Song" - one of my favorite 1950's musicals, these selections included; "Don't Marry Me," and a haunting "Love, Look Away" by the talented Justin Michael Duval. While all of the songs ranged from funny to romantic, this one hand me almost out of my seat! This talented singer also took on "The Sound of Music's" "Maria" to the hilarity of the crowd. It's full of the classics so for all of those theater people, Gleek's, and singing fan's this will be a sure treat, so check it out before it's gone.

  1. Charlotte - I couldn't agree more with your rave review! I saw the show several nights ago and was floored by the talent. I too thought "Love, Look Away" was a knockout. It's a top-notch show and every bit as good as anything I saw in NYC (and I saw MANY shows in my 13 years there!). I hope Sacramentans get out and show the love for this excellent production.
