One of the "To Do" things in Sacramento is the Pacific Rim Street Festival that is hosted this Sunday in Old Sacramento. This is a "to see" event because of the embrace on the Asian culture, the food, and the 

music/performers/dancers/artists! 

As our weather has been so strange lately its a rare treat that it'll be a bright and sunny weekend, so this is the perfect chance to jump into the festival! My favorite part is always the Sacramento Takio Dan, the Taiko drums are haunting and beautiful, with a sound like thunder! Plus entrance is free, food is minimal cost, and performances are free! So bike down, and enjoy this cultural Sunday!

In 1993, the first Pacific Rim Street Fest was presented in Old Sacramento by the restauranteur, Frank Fat, and community groups. With his ever optimistic spirit, he was able to create a coalition of community leaders and succeed in seeing his dream of a street festival come to pass.   For the past eighteen years the festival has displayed the richness and diversity of many Pacific Rim cultures through cultural programs, entertainment, art and food. The event also enhances the community's knowledge of Asian/Pacific Island cultures in a fun and positive environment. The Annual Pacific Rim Street Fest is scheduled for May 22, 2011 from 10:00am-5:00pm in Old Sacramento and Westfield Downtown Plaza. Having people of all ages and backgrounds at the event offers an excellent vehicle for leading businesses to showcase their support for the Asian American community. Each year we feature an aspect of Asian culture as the theme of the festival. For the year 2011, the theme is "Spice". Jewish Heritage Festival May 22, 2011. Coming soon! The Jewish Heritage Festival is returning to the West Steps of the Capitol. 1:00-6:00 p.m.   Join Us for the 2011 Jewish Heritage Festival!  In conjunction with National Jewish American Heritage Month, The Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region is proud to bring the annual Jewish Heritage Festival to the State Capitol.  Join us on Sunday, May 22, 2011 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at the West Steps as we celebrate all that unites us with traditional food, live music and entertainment, dancing, cultural exhibits and displays, family and children’s activities, a special teen zone, and more!   Special performances on the main stage by local favorites Marty Cohen and the Sidekicks, The Freilachmakers, and Lucy's Bones. Rock out to the sounds of Jewish surf music with headliner Meshugga Beach Party!
