Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Mary Poppins at The Community Center Theater

Purely magical. That was the feeling that started in the beginning, and lasted till the end. Magic. I had heard rave reviews from this broadway production, and have always loved Mary Poppins the movie, but I could have never anticipated how much I would love the theater production.

It is by far the best show I've ever seen come to Sacramento, and to think I was thinking of passing on tonight because I was tired from work. This show was the thing that made me feel better. Now here's why:
  1. Set design - from Mary Poppins, played by Steffanie Leigh, flying across the theater above the audience, to a 30 foot tall umbrella, the beautifully constructed '17 cherry lane' house literally unfolding on-set, or the walking up walls/ceilings of this 50-foot high walls of the theater in the "Step in time" number - this was a jaw dropping presentation.
  2. Acting - Mary Poppins wowed all, from the moment she stepped on stage to the last of the encore screams this brought you back to those first Julie Andrews memories, with a couple of new unanticipated twists.
