Anything Goes in Sacramento

All aboard for laughs when Cole Porter’s Anything Goes sets sail at Music Circus July 26-31.  With mistaken identities, long-lost loves, and a bevy of tap dancers aboard a luxury cruise liner, Anything Goes is a guaranteed good time.

A British nobleman, a sheltered heiress, a Wall Street stockbroker, a bombastic nightclub singer and Public Enemy 13 are all aboard a luxury ocean liner when Cole Porter’s madcap tap-dancing musical comedy classic returns to Music Circus for its first production in the Wells Fargo Pavilion. Featuring Porter’s timeless tunes “You’re the Top,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “It’s De-lovely” and “Anything Goes.”

Anything Goes takes place aboard a luxury cruise ship where sexy night club star Reno Sweeney attempts to help her friend Billy Crocker win back his lost love who is set to marry a wealthy British nobleman. To complicate matters, Billy must assume a series of disguises to hide from his boss, who thinks he's back in New York working, and the F.B.I., who mistakenly believe he’s Public Enemy No. 1!

“Anything Goes” stars Music Circus favorite Vicki Lewis as Reno Sweeney, David Elder as Billy Crocker and Jason Graae as Moonface Martin.  Vicki Lewis is best known for her role in the television comedy “Newsradio” as well as Broadway performances in “Chicago” and “Damn Yankees.”  Lewis' previous Music Circus roles include Fanny Brice in last summer's “Funny Girl,” Baker's Wife in “Into the Woods” and Mama Rose in “Gypsy.”

David Elder has performed in the Broadway productions of “42nd Street,” “Curtains,” “Kiss Me Kate,” and “Once Upon a Mattress,” among others.  Jason Graae has starred on Broadway in "A Grand Night For Singing" and "Falsettos", among others, and was also the voice of Lucky the Leprechaun for Lucky Charms cereal.

Natalie Cortez will play Hope Harcourt, the love of Billy Crocker who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, played by John Scherer, who was seen last year as Sir Robin in Monty Python's “Spamalot” and Andre Thibault in “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.” Kevin Cooney will play Billy Crocker’s boss, Elisha Whitney, Anita Flanagan is Mrs. Harcourt and Melissa Fahn is Moonface’s sidekick Erma.  The production will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award-nominee and last summer's director of “Oklahoma!” Marcia Milgrom Dodge.
