The Cosmopolitan Cabaret Opens its Doors with Forever Plaid!

Be transported with the barbershop style boys of Forever Plaid into the 1950’s setting of a cabaret night-club, reminiscent of a time when the mob ran Las Vegas, the drinks were straight up, and women wore white gloves and real fur without political complications. The play of Forever Plaid depicts a barbershop quartet that has been transported to the current day to perform this special show that they never got to sing in before a tragic car accident. The hilarious interaction with the audience, high amounts of situational comedy and slapstick humor in this performance is delightful. These four young talented singers, veterans of the performance, have come together to create the Forever Plaid show that is to last for an open-ended run. We were able to hear an array of songs from “Caught a falling star” to the “Chain Gang,” “Heart and Soul” and my new favorite after this performance, “No, not much.”

In a small intimate theatre, which seats up to 200 guests, drinks are available at your seats and a full service restaurant outside the theatre is opened before and after the show. The new Cosmopolitan Café a Paragary’s Restaurant will be opening on Tuesday, September 30, 2008. The menu includes an array of items from a Fish and chip at $13 to a Cosmo Burger with caramelized onions and truffle cheese for only $12 - and bringing competition to the Broiler Room down the street with the Cosmo's New York steak at $27. Although there bar and wine list is good and growing, the $3 sodas are a little steep, but the menu looks so good it’s worth the price. With the capitol right up the street, this new hot spot will be assured a high amount of political traffic with such a swank atmosphere.

The Cosmopolitan Cabaret is located at the corner of 10th and K Street in the heart of downtown Sacramento only a block from the state capitol. This venue is a great feel of a time apart, perfect for a date with a different feel, this place is comfortable and classy with potential for even more in the future. So sit back, grab a few drinks and relax while you enjoy the music of decades past.
